村面积约6平方千米，农业为主，兼营养殖与建筑：稻田1500多亩，养殖水面1300多亩；村集体在村中心建有农贸市场[2]。
文化[edit]
村里有一支200多人的醒狮武术团，节庆时表演舞狮和武术；村办公楼旁的演出广场可容纳3000多人[2]。村民依村规民约维护环境卫生，13个小组中已有10个修通硬底村道[2]。庄艮的年例在正月十五[4]。
名胜古迹[edit]
庄艮林氏宗祠位于村南部，始建于明隆庆五年（1571年），清道光三年（1823年）和民国二十年（1931年）两次重修；砖木结构，坐东朝西，三进五开间，占地约2637平方米，建筑面积约1445平方米；曾用作乡公所和学校，2022年公布为第十批省级文物保护单位[3]。
