上社村在汕头市澄海区盐鸿镇，地处澄海东北，邻接饶平，面对澄饶联围，身后是莲花山，属盐灶旧乡。[1]
名称与历史[edit]
相传宋末刘布袋到今中社村刘厝池顶一带创业，林姓等随后聚居，村民多晒卤煎盐，故称盐灶乡；该处在乡的东北部，居上方，因名上社。[1]1960年盐灶生产大队分出上社生产大队；1984年设上社乡，1986年设上社村；1998年9月起设上社村，沿用至今。[2]
经济[edit]
村里自述在册人口7976人，耕地2300亩，有1000多亩无公害蔬菜基地、2座排灌站和2处农贸市场，并有规模以上企业5家。[1]2021年9月，上社村（薄壳）入选广东省第二批“一村一品、一镇一业”专业村。[1]
