名称与历史[edit]
相传古时村北是海滩，急流经村东的白泥港，民间用滩涂筑起拦潮的陇坝，水中刚露出水面的陇坝称为“坛”。明天启六年（1626），福建莆田曾氏迁来，在陇坝一头建村，因名坛头；其后林、苏、吕等姓陆续迁入。[1][2]
1932年称坛头乡；1960年设坛头生产大队；1984年设坛头乡，隶盐鸿区；1986年撤区置镇后设坛头村，属盐鸿镇；1998年9月起设坛头村，沿用至今。[2]
经济[edit]
全村土地面积250.5公顷，耕地2769亩（含海田），以种植业和淡水养殖业为主。2009年有915户、3769人。[1]2021年9月，坛头村（对虾）入选广东省第二批“一村一品、一镇一业”专业村，2022年1月又被省乡村振兴局列为乡村治理示范村创建单位（2021年度）。[1]百度百科另记其面积3965.55亩、人口4622人，并称村内有海底温泉资源。[3]
