湖东村在汕头市潮阳区河溪镇，西面和北面临牛田洋滩涂，是革命老区村。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网，村子建于清康熙年间（1662至1723年），原属城郊，曾与白竹、东家宫合称东竹乡，1957年起划归河溪镇。[1][2]村名有两说：一说因西、北两面濒海滩，形似湖，故名；另一说是早年海滩礁石多、年年产蚝，称蚝礁村，后改雅称湖东。[1][3]
经济[edit]
村里历来产大蒜、烟草、生姜和芋头，现种水稻、蔬菜、甘薯，山坡地种柿子、荔枝。[2]2003年被广东省评为无公害蔬菜生产基地，面积三百多亩，产蒜苗、西洋菜和瓜类；2004年建成30亩机械化喷灌。[2]现有522户2482人（该页未注明年份），人均纯收入在2013年为3879元。[2]
