旷园社区位于汕头市潮阳区文光街道，划为主城区，原是棉城外的农村，城基拆除后并入城区。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
清末民国初处于城外，其后归西门居民区，1994年另立旷园居民委员会。[1]
地理与经济[edit]
辖区约0.53平方千米。居民多为祖辈种地的城郊农民，土地陆续被征用，逐步由乡转城，户口中约七成为非农业人口。社区于1991年盖起两栋工业楼（7500平方米），1995年集体出资办了旷园市场，占地7800平方米。[1]
