桃园社区位于汕头市潮阳区文光街道，划为城乡结合区。据地名资料，这里本是滩涂，先建了一座庵舍；元末明初邱、翁二姓率先在庵旁定居，陈、李、张等姓相继迁入成村，村名原作涂园，后取谐音改写。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
民国时期属棉城南薰乡，1994年以前归南门居民区，同年11月单立为桃园居民委员会。[1]
地理与经济[edit]
辖区约1.16平方千米（山林不计），东山大道和新华路经过。辖内有通用厂房5幢，面积2.34万平方米，企业生产文具、扑克、服装、内衣等；居民的主要收入来自建筑业。2000年建成凤肚公园。[1]
