地名与历史沿革[edit]
鹅公岭村始建于明末。村南有一条鹅溪从契爷石山下流过，村子因此得名，社区沿用村名。[3]
解放前这里属东莞，解放后划归宝安县，先后隶属宝安县第三区平湖乡、白鹅乡、布吉公社、平湖公社、平湖区、平湖镇，1993年后属龙岗区平湖镇。鹅公岭大队1958年由几处合并而成，1984年年初大队改作乡，2004年设社区居委会，属平湖街道。[3]
人口与经济[edit]
区政府网站称社区总人口约5.04万，户籍人口为2596人，外来人口约4.8万；辖区内工业园区共11个（如宝鹅、春湖两个工业区），企业464家，另有学校和幼儿园7所。[1]
博雅地名网所载的2011年情况是：股份合作公司有5个工业区、宝鹅路等3条商业街，经营占地约10万平方米的钢材市场、日处理能力4万吨的自来水厂和7000多平方米的农贸市场，全年总收入6801万元，股民年终人均分红1.95万元。[2]

社区的舞麒麟已列入龙岗区非物质文化遗产名录，并应邀在深圳大运会的非遗展演中表演。[2]
荣誉[edit]
社区得到过「广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」「深圳市健康社区（银奖）」等称号。[1]
