历史沿革[edit]
相传很久以前，这里是一处可以避风的港湾，船只常来停靠；后因地质变化，海水退去成为陆地，当地人形象地称之为“流塘”。[1]
流塘的隶属几经反复：1958年并入翻身大队，次年归西乡大队，1961年单立流塘大队，1963年与麻布、径贝合为麻布大队，1980年才又独立。1983年体制改革后称村委会，1991年底设行政村归新安镇，1993年春改属西乡镇。2004年3月依深宝民〔2004〕150号批复，流塘等16个村委会撤销，改设16个社区居委会。[3]
地理环境与人口[edit]
社区在街道中心腹地，0.7平方公里的范围由新安四路、107国道、流塘路和锦花路围成。住户既有原村民，也有购房迁入者；2013年末户籍2500人，暂住约6.8万人。辖区有公办的流塘小学。[2]
荣誉[edit]
流塘社区于2022年8月列入「第二批深圳市绿色（宜居）社区」。[1]
