历史沿革[edit]
社区由臣田村民委员会改制设立，因而沿用“臣田”之名。居民主要在元末明初迁入。[1][2]
宝安大陆1949年10月解放，臣田划入西乡乡；1951年大乡改小乡，归新西乡。1958年10月政社合一，西乡生产管理区属超英人民公社，次年又归南头公社，1960年起由新西大队管理。1983年7月公社改区，1985年4月西乡区并入新安镇，1986年10月新西乡改叫西乡村委会。1996年西乡镇政府把该村委会分为河东、河西、臣田、庄边四个，2004年7月城市化改制后成为臣田社区居委会。[3]
地理环境与人口[edit]
社区位于街道东北部，东至凤凰岗社区，南至河西社区，西至龙珠社区，北至富华社区，总面积2.5平方公里。2013年末户籍居民678人，暂住人口3.5万人。社区有醒狮队、篮球队、妇女舞蹈健身队等，获评市级“六好”社区、广东省卫生村。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
铁仔山古墓群在臣田村铁仔山南坡，是广东省文物保护单位。据百度百科，该墓群于1983年首次发现，历次抢救性发掘清理了汉至明清墓葬377座，其中有东汉熹平四年（175年）的纪年墓，2000年的发掘被评为当年全国重要考古发现。[1][4]
