历史沿革[edit]
村名最初写作「湾下」，因村子位于深圳湾（后海湾）的最南端。[1][4] 据《樊氏族谱》，樊氏先祖樊宜兰在明万历年间从新安县涌头乡迁到此地定居，其后李、莫、谢、陈、黄、邱等姓以及平湖刘氏陆续迁入。[2][4] 清初的《康熙新安县志》已载有湾厦村名，清代这里归新安县典史管辖。[2]
1970年，湾厦大队由南头公社划归蛇口公社，原属大队的南水、水湾头两个生产队分出，各自成立大队。[2] 1983年11月政社分设，大队改称湾厦村。[2] 1992年深圳推行农村城市化，湾厦村撤销，原村的行政事务改设湾厦居委会，2001年居委会改称社区。[2]
社区概况[edit]
博雅地名网称，社区总面积0.35平方千米，总人口18873人，其中户籍原居民592人，其余多为租住的外来人员；辖区楼宇密集，是典型的城中村。[3] 每年3月8日，社区举办「三八节」以感谢妇女对村经济的贡献；农历九月十九是社区老人节，迁居香港、澳门的原居民也会被邀请回来。[3]
深圳市在2022年8月公布的第二批绿色（宜居）社区名单中有湾厦社区。[1] 当地媒体称，村里还有一座清代天后庙，以及一座据称是全深圳唯一的石筑炮楼。[4][5]
