历史沿革[edit]
村委会设在长来镇最东面，故名东边。[1]
1958年设东边大队，1983年设东边乡政府，1987年设村委会，1989年设管理区，1998年重设村委会，沿用至今。[1]
经济[edit]
全村耕地1636亩，其中水田636亩、旱地1000亩，另有林地500亩；作物以水稻、马蹄为主，另有蔬菜、花生和少量棉花。适合种马蹄的地有600亩，目前种了约300亩；马蹄是近些年才发展出来的土特产。养殖多是散养的猪和鸡。[1]2019年9月，东边村进入2018年度广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单；2026年3月被认定为「广东省第三批“百千万工程”典型村镇」。[1]
