名称由来[edit]
相传瑶民进入山坑，朝山谷高声呼喊，回声被误当作鬼的应答，于是称“鬼坑”；觉得不雅，改用谐音的“桂坑”。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
新中国成立初设桂坑乡，1958年改设大队，1983年设乡政府，1986年设村委会，1989年称管理区，1998年复称村委会。[1] 1984年美国的瑶族华侨、华裔代表团回乡寻根，来到桂坑村拜谒了“盘安山公”祖墓。[2]
荣誉[edit]
2017年11月，中央文明委将桂坑村列为「第五届全国文明村镇」；2019年9月公布的「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单（2018年度）中有该村；2026年1月，该村又入选「广东省第二批百千万工程典型村」。[1]
