历史沿革[edit]
旺村在1952年与新田、汤村同属新田小乡；1957年办起旺村乡高级社，翌年成为旺村大队，并随镇龙片划归中新公社，1976年改属新分出的镇龙公社。1984年公社改区，设旺村乡；1986年底区改镇，设旺村管委会，1989年再设旺村村委会。2004年镇龙镇并入增城市中新镇，旺村随之；2005年8月镇龙片转入萝岗区九龙镇，2014年由黄埔区接管，2019年划给龙湖街道。[3]
地名由来[edit]
「旺」取兴旺发达之意，村名寄托了希望该村发展兴旺的心愿。[1]
人口与经济[edit]
村情材料（2008年前后）载，村辖叶田、旺村、黄坳三个自然村，设8个经济合作社，占地2.5平方千米，约有230户、1009人；山地3000亩，耕地1280亩，其中水田占1080亩；另有林地1800亩；农作物以水稻、蔬菜为主。集体经济收入约2万元，主要靠厂房与土地租金，村里仅有两家小型企业，设有汤村小学的一个分校[2]。
村里钟、张、邓、夏几姓人较多；享受低保的有23户，残疾人13人，重度残疾的2人领取补助。[2]
