榕树背在碧岭社区，离街道办事处约7千米，邻近碧岭围、下沙、新社。因村前曾有许多榕树而得名。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
村落形成于清末，由廖、李、邓等姓先祖迁居而成；建国初期各姓分居，有廖屋、邓屋、李屋、余屋和吓赖屋几个小村，改革开放以前合为一村。2015年末户籍人口223人，外来人口约2700人。[1]
传统以农业为主，2005年成立股份合作公司，建有厂房6栋，2015年集体收入约200万元。村里保留客家婚俗和添丁点灯的习俗，曾组麒麟队在正月初一入户表演，并存有廖氏宗祠等建筑。[1]
地理环境[edit]
地势平坦，附近有打鼓岭、铜鼓顶，邻近三洲田水库和炳坑水库。[1]
