木头塘村位于朗塘镇境内，属罗定市，清代已有该村，归罗定州一都的开阳乡管辖[2]。村名的来历是一段传说：古时一名农民误把亡母葬进「飞天马」的禁地，触犯天规，被雷公劈开的棺木飞落到附近鱼塘，人们便称此塘为木头塘，后来成为周边一带的地名[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

1910年至1931年间归罗定县第二区管辖。1961年6月，木头塘生产大队设立，改归䓣塘公社。1983年8月，大队撤销，设木头塘乡；1986年11月改为木头塘村民委员会；1989年5月设管理区；1998年9月管理区撤销，村民委员会重新设立，沿用至今。[2]
