城东社区因辖区在新城东部而得名[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

1991年，此地由细坑管理区析出，设城东管理区，隶属罗城镇。1998年撤销管理区，改为村民委员会；2002年3月定名为城东（社区）居民委员会，属罗城街道，此后一直沿用这一名称[1]。

2019年9月，城东社区上榜「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位名单」[1]。2025年11月，城东社区入选「广东省未来社区（完整社区）建设试点」名单[1]。
