城东社区位于都城镇中心区，因驻地及辖区在县城东面而得名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1950年，全镇设居民委员会5个，1989年增至11个。2001年6月，11个居民委员会改为社区居民委员会；2005年6月，这些社区撤并为5个。城东社区居民委员会由原城东社区的全部区域和北郊社区的全部区域合并组成，此后沿用至今。[1]

2022年6月，社区被命名为第三批云浮市「民主法治示范村（社区）」；同年8月，列为广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位；2025年5月，入选「2025—2026年全国示范性老年友好型社区创建名单」。[1]
