湖东村在市区北面约4公里，占地约1.8平方千米（博雅地名网）。村中有张、秦、肖、陈、蔡五姓。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1958年归红色公社，成为湖东大队；1969年改隶流沙公社，仍称湖东大队；1983年转属流沙区，为湖东乡；1986年归流沙镇，设湖东村委会；1990年设湖东管理区，1999年再设湖东村委会，沿用至今。[1]

经济[edit]

改革开放以前，村里以农业为主，种植水稻和甘薯，副业有玉器、金银首饰等传统手工艺。改革开放后，大部分村民弃农经商，约四成村民从事服装生产加工。[1]

文化[edit]

2019年9月，湖东村列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
