湖东村是汕尾红海湾经济开发区东洲街道原辖的村委会，位于汕尾市区南端的沿海丘陵地带，南临大海，西邻捷胜镇。博雅地名网现把它列在田墘街道名下。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
村名的来历，据说是明朝初年建村时，村前有一片与大海相通的湖，村子在湖的东岸，所以叫湖东。[1][2]
新中国成立后称湖东乡，隶田墘区；公社时期是田墘公社的湖东大队；1989年改为湖东管理区，仍属田墘镇；1999年农村改制，成为湖东村委会。1997年3月，它与东洲坑一起从田墘镇划出，归新设的东洲街道。[2][3]
经济[edit]
村北为丘陵，南面靠海，渔业是主业，农业为辅；刺围和潜水捕捞较多，鲍鱼、海胆、龙虾、大头螺等是主要渔获。[2]
村委会介绍，1985年以来，已引进珠饰、制衣、毛织、钢结构制品等十三家民营企业；村有约8公里海岸线、4300亩浅海滩涂，引入15家养虾场、海胆和鲍鱼养殖场，另有3家养猪场。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
村北有一座当地称「太公」的宋代古墓，相传葬的是随杨文广南下作战阵亡的将士；村西有万历年间建的庵寺和烽火台遗址。这些均为传说和村情介绍所述。[2]
荣誉[edit]
2019年10月，入选当年广东省卫生村名录；2024年4月，列入广东省首批乡村振兴示范村创建名单。[3]
