新美社区位于普宁市区中心，辖区内有多家银行和酒店，中信华府、明珠花园等高级住宅小区也在其中。社区有8个居民小组，共1462户，人口6234人（博雅地名网）。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

社区原属流沙镇城北居委会。2000年流沙镇撤销、设立流沙东街道，社区从城北居委会分出，设为新美居委会；2002年改设社区居委会。[1]

新美是新设立的居委会，名称寓有美好生活的意思。[1]

文化[edit]

2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位，社区于2019年9月列入名单。[1]
