东光村位于靖海镇区东侧，东南面临南海，是镇区与乡村相接的城乡结合部。村名取自它位于镇区东畔、日出时海面泛起晨曦的景象。[1]

地名与历史[edit]

村子位于镇区东边，面朝南海。日出时东方一片晨曦，因此得名东光。[1]

新中国成立后到1955年，此地叫靖海东社。它先后改成东光村，又经历大队、管理区等阶段，1999年起才设村委会。[1]

靖海古城墙的所在地包括东光村一带。据百度百科，古城墙位于东光村、北星村、西丰村的范围内。[2]

人口与经济[edit]

村民人均收入3002元。近年村里添置的设施有篮球场、文化广场、老人活动中心，还有村部大楼和文化室。[1]
