东光村位于凤江镇中南部，东面隔榕江，对岸是普宁市大坝镇仙耘村；西侧与阳南村为界，北侧是凤南村，南侧靠东丰村。村民以务农为主，也有凉果、糖果、电线等工业。[1]

博雅地名网载，全村总人口8576人，党员147人，下设11个村民小组。耕地约1562亩。[1][2]

经济[edit]

农作物以水稻和甘蔗为主，并重点发展以蔬菜为主的城郊型农业，养殖有猪、牛、鸡、鸭和淡水鱼。改革开放后，个体工商户与私营企业兴起，凉果加工集中在金湖、埔双、宫里一带，泵头与电线生产在后厝、埔美一带，新祠堂、金湖与阳东市场一带则是商贸中心。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

凤江人民公社时期（1958年至1983年），此地是东光大队所在。1984年2月大队撤销，于是设立凤江区东光乡政府。1986年，乡改为东光村委会；1990年，村归凤江镇政府管理，成为其下的东光管理区；1999年，东光村委会的名称正式确定，并沿用至今。[3]

2024年3月，村被命名为「2023年广东省卫生村」。[1]

镇政府工作报告称，东光村与凤北村属「百千万工程」第四批典型村培育创建对象，目标是通过验收。[4]
