东园镇是广东省揭阳市揭西县下辖的镇，位于县境东部，处在榕江南河中游北岸，距县城42公里。镇名旧作“冬茄园”，因读音近“东”而简称东园。[1]

镇域以农业为主要产业，镇政府的工作报告称全镇有两个「百千万工程」典型村，玉湖村与月湄村；镇中心区的居民委员会是东联社区居委。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

东园此前隶属揭阳县，新中国成立时归揭阳县凤安区管辖，之后编为第六区。1957年成立东园乡，次年塔头并入其中；同年9月东园又划入棉湖人民公社，1961年才从棉湖分立为公社。[1]

1965年7月起东园隶属揭西县。1983年10月改设东园区，1986年又改设为镇。[1]

2026年10月，《揭西县东园镇国土空间总体规划》成果公告发布，规划期为2021至2035年。[3]

地理环境[edit]

镇域南面隔榕江与棉湖镇相望，西与塔头镇毗邻，北与京溪园镇交界。[1]

据镇政府2026年的工作报告，全镇森林覆盖率已提升至35.19%。[2]

经济[edit]

据镇政府2026年的工作报告，全镇农业总产值从2021年的4.19亿元增至2025年的5.28亿元，年均增长5.2%；这五年间累计完成固定资产投资6.32亿元。[2]

镇政府的工作报告把农业布局归为四大基地：养殖南美白对虾，种植水稻良种，发展淡水渔业，以及农旅融合示范。[2]

2025年，镇组建强镇富村公司「东园宏德利综合开发有限公司」，全镇各行政村的集体经济年收入已超过10万元。[2]
