永东村位于仙桥街道东南面，周边三面环水、一面依山，与潮阳、普宁两地相邻，属主城区村。[1]

全村面积2200多亩，有1753户，居民8215人，设6个经联社。[1]

村民以农业为主，外出打工经商为辅。村内有个体小企业和家庭作坊100多家。[1]

文化[edit]

村内的古溪祠堂即陈氏家庙，是一座潮汕传统工艺的宗祠，木雕、金漆门和名家书匾构成其内涵，被列为省级文物保护单位。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

建国初建乡，名永东乡，归十五区管。1951年改设玉美乡，属安乐区；1956年撤区并乡，成为古溪乡的一部分。1958年为玉美管区，隶安乐公社；1962年拆社，改称永乐大队，属仙桥公社；1976年又与别处合为永东大队，1983年为永东乡，1986年改设永东村委会。[1]

1993年，村子被省列为革命老区；2021年1月，本村进入第七批广东省古村落名单；「广东省卫生村」（2023年）的称号于2024年3月授予本村。2019年9月，本村入选2018年度民主法治示范村（社区）创建名单。[1]
