湖边村在镇政府西北约3.5公里处，是全镇最小的一个建制村。村内有黄、李、林等姓氏，海外侨胞50多人。[1]

地理与历史[edit]

村子东望阁洲，西邻后郭村，南连银湖村，北接塘东村。元代建村，先祖来自福建。相传建村时，四周湖塘溪流环绕，因此称为湖边。[1]

村子分作三处居民聚居点，布局较为分散。[1]

经济[edit]

耕地402亩，作物以水稻、花生、黄麻为主，另产香蕉。农户饲养猪、鱼与三鸟；工副业涉及抽纱、机绣与灯笼制作。2005年，村中工农业收入为350万元。[1]
