东城社区位于原东升镇的东部。社区名称的来由是：坦背镇并入东升镇后，此地位于合并后东升镇的东部。2021年12月，社区被认定为「2021年度中山市绿色社区」；2019年9月，社区上榜「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

东升与坦背两镇在1998年末合并，两地的居委会当时仍各自分设。2004年11月，两处合为东城社区居民委员会。2021年6月，据博雅地名网所载，社区并入小榄镇。[1]

社区没有管理地域，也不涉及农业，本身没有集体经济，日常开支由镇财政负担。它的工作主要是为原东升片区的非农业人口办理户口、民政、征兵等事项。[1]
