金洲社区位于虎门镇中西部，古为滩涂，村名据村落介绍因两山对峙、水流如金印而得。明代北栅人陈益在此引种番薯，村中留有陈益家族墓。[3][1]

外来人口5.6万人，户籍人口6434人（2024年）。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

建国前后，金洲隶属东莞县第六区虎洲乡。人民公社时期先是金洲大队，之后改设金洲乡。1987年建为金洲管理区，隶虎门镇。1999年才改设为行政村，名为金洲村委会。[1]

村址原为滩涂，后靠小捷山诸丘，村前为太平河口。东莞市政府网的村落介绍称，旧时村前有小岛，堪舆之士说「水流金印」，故取名「金洲」。明清时分为大金洲、小金洲两村。[3]

番薯与陈益[edit]

村落介绍称，北栅人陈益于明万历年间在小捷山前购地三十五亩引种番薯，并称该地为国中第一块番薯地。[3]

陈益家族墓是明代墓葬，位于金洲社区。博雅地名网称陈益是北栅陈氏的先祖，并称他是中国引种番薯第一人。[1]

近况[edit]

村域已扩展为城区，街道纵横、楼房密集，沙角电厂的居民区也建在这里，成为镇内的闹市。[3]
