新南村在企石镇的西南，占地约2.4平方千米，内含六个自然村：新红、新上、新丰、新东、新明和新光。[1]

村内有人口约7100人，其中常住2100人，新莞人5000人，工厂企业52家。2019年9月，新南村列入2018年广东省民主法治示范村名单；2020年至2022年，村庄连续入选淘宝村名单。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1951年设民主乡，归铁炉坑管辖；1952年设胜利乡，包括新村、南坑和霞朗。1958年9月成立人民公社，隶属福隆营。[1]

1961年，此地脱离公社体制，从福隆营分出，设为新南大队；1976年10月，大队分成南坑、霞朗与新南三部分。[1]

经济[edit]

2004年以来，村里筹资建设新南新兴路商业街，另有多条居住与商业并存的街道。[1]
