周屋社区位于东城街道东北面，距东城中心区约8公里，面积2.7平方千米，紧邻莞深高速公路与莞龙路。[1][2]

社区内的周氏宗祠为东莞市文物保护建筑，2011年周屋被选为东莞市首批名村建设试点之一。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，相传宋末元初立村，始祖周廉溪自广东南雄迁来。1952年成立回头乡，1958年设凹头营。1963年，凹头大队撤销，代之以周屋大队；此后，1984年称乡，1987年称管理区，1998年变为村委会，2005年村改居。[1]

本地登记的户籍为567户，人口2401名，另有外来人口约7000人。社区有近700亩连片农田，据载为东莞市区连片面积最大的标准化水稻种植示范区。[1][2]

文化与荣誉[edit]

周屋周氏宗祠建于明清，已有620多年历史，2012年11月被列入第九批东莞市文物保护单位。[2][3]

社区在2013年获东莞市名村称号，2014年获创意水稻国家农业部金奖与广东省名村称号，2015年获东城街道优秀先进社区称号。[1]
