村中的田地，当地人称为「洞」，人们盼望这些田地能让村落兴旺，村名由此而来。[1]

沿革[edit]

1955年9月设旺洞乡，1958年10月改为旺洞大队，1983年11月复为旺洞乡，1986年11月设旺洞村委会，1989年8月改为旺洞管理区，1999年5月定为旺洞村委会。[1]

荣誉[edit]

广东省农业农村厅于2020年8月发布的首批「广东省“一村一品、一镇一业”专业村」名单里，旺洞村以小黄姜入选。2021年12月，广东省爱国卫生运动委员会把「2021年广东省卫生村」荣誉称号颁给旺洞村。[1]
