分设生产大队时，以一个较大的自然村元岗村的名字作为大队名称，村名因此而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1953年此地属井建乡，1958年设元岗大队，1983年改设元岗乡，1986年成立元岗村委会，1989年又改为管理区，1999年重设村委会。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2019年9月，本村上榜「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
