始兴是东城镇下辖的社区，属主城区，2013年12月东城居委会撤销后分设的两个居委会之一。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

社区名取自始兴路：东城建镇之初，该路在县城里是最具代表性的一条大街。[2]

1989年3月东城镇建制，同年设东城居委会。城镇人口随发展不断增加，2013年12月东城居委会撤销，分设始兴居委会和大令居委会，此后沿用至今。[1]

文化[edit]

2019年9月，始兴社区列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[2]
