地名[edit]

据博雅地名网，南宋景炎四年（1279年），张世杰兵败，有官员隐居在这一带。村名取自其官衔「同中书门下平章事」中的「平章」二字[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

1953年设平章乡，隶属十一区。1957年2月撤区建大乡，村子先后划入海陵乡和双平乡。1958年并入英雄公社，设平章管理区；1959年改设平章生产大队管委会，同年10月属海陵人民公社[1]。
