塘背村属三角镇，城乡分类为村庄。村名与严氏先祖的旧宅有关：祖祠前有一口大水塘，先祖三兄弟分家时，长兄让出现成的房子，自己在塘坝背另建新宅，因而得名塘背。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

1958年成为塘背大队，1983年改设塘背乡，1988年又设塘背管理区办事处，1998年才改为塘背村民委员会。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2019年9月，塘背村入选2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。2024年3月，村里获「2023年广东省卫生村」的命名。[1]
