湖西村是连平县大湖镇下辖的行政村，村民全为曾姓，村名因其位于镇西而得，村内有中共连平县工作委员会遗址和上石板滩反围剿战斗旧址。[1][2][3]

地名由来[edit]

村庄位于大湖镇西部，村民均姓曾，先人从湖东的大湖寨一带西迁建村，故名湖西村。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1958年前后，此地先组建初级社，后改为高级社。1960年起此地称湖西乡，随后又成为湖西生产大队。1987年设湖西管理区，1998年撤销管理区，改设湖西村民委员会。[1]

革命旧址[edit]

中共连平县工作委员会遗址在湖西村下屋，原为回龙庵一带。1941年2月下旬，党组织在回龙庵小学背面的矮山岗召开会议，成立中共连平县工作委员会，张仁安任县工委书记。该工委同年冬撤销，改为特派员制。[2]

1948年4月1日，一支百余人的国民党武装围攻上石板滩屋，当地民兵迎战，敌方2人被击毙，10余人受伤，民兵一人牺牲。当晚，地下党组织召开会议，表彰了民兵的表现。[3]

荣誉[edit]

湖西村于2023年5月获广东省爱卫会评定为「2022年广东省卫生村」。[1]
