地名由来[edit]
村边河畔设有水车油坊，村民在此榨油；加上田地宽广肥沃、灌溉便利、年年丰收，人们觉得这里富足，于是取名油村。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1958年设油村大队，1970年改为油村管理区，1998年撤区设村，设立油村村民委员会，沿用至今。[1]
何新屋[edit]
何新屋又称何屋围，建于清雍正二年（1724年）。据载，何氏十三世祖廷任公去世后，其遗孀叶氏带着四个儿子在旧址上另起新基续建，今仅保存最老的四围。屋内设有龙厅上书房、养正轩、三馀、青黎等书房。[2]
何新屋靠近大路，是解放战争时期的战斗旧址。1948年3月30日，敌人在洋塘岗受阻后向何新屋方向溃逃，屋内民兵从东门开炮射击，此战击毙多名敌人，守在狗洞的两名民兵牺牲。[3]
荣誉[edit]
油村于2023年5月获广东省爱卫会评定为「2022年广东省卫生村」。2019年9月，油村入选「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」名单。[1]
