醒狮村是元善镇下辖的行政村，村名取自解放初期本村的舞狮队。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

解放初期，村民爱看本村的传统舞狮队表演，于是把村子定名为醒狮。[1]

醒狮村旧属麻陂洞地域；新中国成立后此处设乡，之后该片区分成三个村，醒狮为其中之一。[1]

广东省爱卫会于2023年5月命名醒狮村为2022年度广东省卫生村。[1]
