联新村属临江镇，是联合、大新两村并成之后各取一字得名的。[1] 2019年9月，该村被列入「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」名单。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1958年10月的联和生产大队是前身，归柏埔公社。1961年4月它分成大新、联合两个大队，同属新成立的临江公社；1963年3月二者合并，定名联新。八十年代起，1983年改称乡，1987年改称村委会，1989年一度叫管理区，1999年重新成立村委会，沿用至今。[1]

2020年6月8日，临江镇内降雨成涝，联新村路面积水最深处达1.2米，水流湍急，村道和农田被淹，消防车赶到。[2]
