水东村是紫金县古竹镇下辖的行政村，原名水东子，因在东江东岸得名，村内有中共东江后方特委旧址。[1]

建置沿革[edit]

水东子是永安县明隆庆三年（1569年）设县时，宽得都苦竹派约的十四村之一，清代沿用原名。1961年古竹农场成立，水东划归其管；1963年农场撤销，水东设生产大队，隶古竹公社。此后改为水东乡（1983年）、水东村委会（1987年），1998年定为水东村委会，沿用至今。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

中共东江后方特委旧址在水东村，博雅地名网称其在三巷，维基百科称在水东陈屋，1987年6月列为县级文物保护单位。后方特委于1941年2月在龙川老隆镇设立，书记梁威林，所辖包括紫金、五华、龙川、河源、和平、连平、新丰各县。[1][2]
