创新村位于甲西镇北部，耕地以水田为主，村民靠农业种植为生，距镇府约5千米，有水路可通镇政府。村的归属经历多次变动，1970年自新华大队分出，1988年自欧华乡分出，始设村委会。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

建国后，此地先归第八区（两城区）的欧华乡。1958年归甲子公社新华大队。[1] 1970年，自新华大队分出，划归甲西公社，单设创新大队。[1] 1984年又并回欧华乡，划入甲西区；1988年复从欧华乡析出，成立创新村委会，隶甲西乡。[1] 1994年转为管理区，归甲西镇；1999年改回村委会。[1]

荣誉[edit]

广东省爱卫会于2020年12月命名创新村为「2020年广东省卫生村」。[1]
