元高社区在甲子镇中心，与高地、东溪、新村、瀛东等社区相邻，社区内设有国家级非物质文化遗产项目甲子英歌的传承基地。[1]

辖区约0.15平方公里，户籍2425户、10530人，分6个片区、12个小网格，社区干部9人，党员90名。社区介绍称这里历来是镇上的商贸和文化中心，有个体工商户200多户，以服装、饮食、电器为主。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1950年，元帝社与高地社并成一处，各取一字得名元高，1953年归甲子镇管辖。1975年为元高居民区，1987年设居委会，1994年叫管理区，1999年恢复居委会，2002年起为元高社区居委会。[2]

甲子英歌[edit]

社区介绍称，甲子英歌在当地已流传600多年。它在2007年6月进入广东省第二批省级非遗名录，2011年5月又被国务院列入第三批国家级非遗名录。2019年社区筹资130多万元，拆除旧楼，建起建筑面积约460平方米的四层楼，二楼辟为英歌展示厅，三楼作训练场地。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2020年12月，获广东省爱卫会授予的2020年广东省卫生村称号。[2]
