炎围村位于城东街道的南面，下设新乡、炎苍埔和桃围三个小组，2026年初被评为广东省的“百千万工程”典型村。[1][2]

全村5700多人，耕地近千亩，另有养殖水面1800亩，经济以农业为主。村里建了百亩粮食示范基地，按“粟、稻、薯”的顺序水旱轮作；炎苍埔休闲文体公园设有广场、小湖、凉亭、篮球场和健身设施。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，明崇祯年间（1621-1628年）村民围垦低洼水塘造田，分散的居民点逐渐合成一村。1949年与东埔合为东围乡；1962年分设炎围大队；1986年再合并，1988年撤乡设炎围村委会，隶城东镇。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2020年12月，省爱卫会授予其卫生村称号；2024年1月，它被定为广东省民主法治示范村（社区），属2023年度；2026年1月，又成为第二批“百千万工程”典型村。[2]
