军潭村在城东街道西侧，东与上陈村、东埔村相邻，是革命老区村。[1]

村下设5个村民小组，户籍7500多人，另有3万多外来人口；耕地1080亩，山地1200亩。辖区内公办学校3所，民办小学4所，另有5家幼儿园，陆丰市龙山中学与村相距约100米；有宗教庙宇10所，景点有霞湖妈祖和鲤鱼潭居士林。国道324线、深汕高速公路和陆伍公路穿过村境，村子离陆城汽车站1公里，离厦深高铁陆丰站3公里。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

建国之初，军潭是一区下的乡；1953年起在军潭区之内，1956年随农业合作化划入两城大乡，1957年冬区撤乡并，成了炎龙乡下的军潭大队。1962年，肖姓、郑姓两个因修水库而搬迁的村子落户此地，霞湖村亦并进来合成一个大队，桥东、桥西与后圩则交东海镇管。此后1986年建军潭乡，隶炎龙区；1988年乡改村委会，归城东镇；1994年叫管理区，1999年恢复为村民委员会，至今未变。[2]

2019年9月，军潭村进入广东省2018年“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位名单。[2]
