南进村在水唇镇东部的山区，下辖5个自然村，依次是粗坑、大洋田、樟坑、坑背和南进寨，面积4.94平方千米。[1][2]水唇镇政府网站介绍的“百米瀑布南进寨”即在这一带。[5]

历史沿革[edit]

南进在1958年一度同南跃并成一个大队，1960年两村又各自分开。后来的名称依次是南进乡（1984年3月）、村委会（1986年）、管理区（1990年），1999年起叫南进村民委员会。[3]

人口与经济[edit]

镇政府新近的介绍记有312户1800人，常住140人；较早的介绍记288户1803人，常住580人。[1][2]耕地约770亩，山地约6706亩；种的是水稻与番薯，水果有青梅、油柑，也养鸡、鸭、猪、牛。[2][4]山高林密，光照不足，农业收入增长慢，曾列为县里的贫困村。[4]

2015年12月，南进村获「广东省卫生村」称号。[2]
