外湖村在田墘街道东北部，南靠白沙湖，北与海丰县赤坑镇交界，距街道办事处约7公里，下有埔上、后湖、麻园、深径四个自然村。[1]

人口与经济[edit]

全村5200人，常住1480人，外出3720人；共有耕地3623亩，水田1600亩，旱地2023亩，以农为主，底子薄。村委会原设在埔上村，现办公址建于2003年。[1]

革命老区[edit]

大革命时期村里有25位烈士牺牲；省人民政府在1957年把它定为红色根据地。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

解放初是外湖乡，归田墘区；公社化时设外湖大队；1989年改外湖管理区；1999年成为外湖村委会，归田墘街道。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2019年10月，外湖村入选广东省卫生村名录。[1]
