堑垣村在广东省梅州市蕉岭县长潭镇，位于石窟河以西，设31个村民小组，在册849户、2948人，全村面积5.01平方公里，耕地2535亩（据博雅地名网所载村情），是镇内人口较多的村。[1]

这里原是古河床。传说石窟河本由桃溪流经寨上沙子渡到石岩寨，为改变河道，里人温大府带人在村周低洼处筑堤，防洪防涝，村因此叫堑垣。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

旧名堑垣下，后称堑垣村。明崇祯六年（1633年）属兴福乡；1952年设堑垣乡；1983年属兴福区，桃溪、堑垣、寨上三个大队并为堑垣乡；1987年为兴福乡的堑垣村委会，1990年改管理区，1999年起仍称村委会；2004年兴福镇撤销，并入长潭镇。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2019年9月，堑垣村列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单；2022年11月被确定为2021年度「全国综合减灾示范社区」。村里主要种沙田柚和水稻。[1]
