高车塘村属梅州市五华县河东镇管辖，是镇内的一个行政村[1]。博雅地名网所载村情介绍（未注年份）称，该村分11个村民小组，在册565户，总面积9.7平方千米，耕地约1400亩[1]。

据村情介绍，解放初它属油田公社高车大队，1989年以前改为高车乡，1987年至1999年设高车塘管理区，1999年起为村民委员会。[1]
