地名由来[edit]

社区靠近梅江河边，古时这里有白码头，因而得名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

据社区的介绍，宋代以来已有人在此建房居住。杨姓梅州始祖杨云岫（名耸）生于唐中和元年（881年），先随父居江西庐陵，后经江西入粤，寓居梅州，在水南杨古状里结庐定居。1958年起归新中大队，后改隶梅江大队；1986年12月由梅江大队转为居民身份，另立白马居民委员会。十五年后的2001年10月23日，依梅江区府函〔2001〕56号文改为白马社区居民委员会，沿用至今。[2]
