小湘镇圩镇社区是肇庆市高要区小湘镇政府所在的社区，在西江岸边，紧靠国道321线，东邻端州区睦岗一带；地势平坦，占地约2平方千米。[1]社区由旧时的窦头圩发展而来，1983年起设圩镇社区居民委员会。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网所载，明洪武三十一年（1398年）内朗水的出水窦随堤围一同建成；其后人们在窦头之上修起一条曲尺形的街，长210米、宽3米，两边排着砖瓦或木料搭成的铺面，名为窦头圩，也叫窦头街。[1]1963年因水利建设需要迁窦，拆去旧圩另建新街，街道逐年向西延伸；1981年起又向南拓展出开发区；1983年改设圩镇社区居民委员会，沿用至今。[1]

“小湘”之名，据博雅地名网，来自当地的“小湘坑”。[1]
