村里的作物，以水稻、荔枝、龙眼、香蕉为主；村民约2673人，辖区面积4.31平方千米[1]。

年均气温18.9℃，年降水量约1690毫米，属南亚热带季风型气候[1]。

地名由来[edit]

以前此地修有一座堡垒，在战争中被毁，如今已无踪迹，村名取“平”字以记其事[2]。

历史沿革[edit]

平堡村的建制变化依次是：1961年为大队，1983年改作乡，1986年前后组建村民委员会，1989年设管理区办事处，1999年定为现名[1]。

荣誉[edit]

  • 2021年12月，获广东省爱卫会授予「2021年广东省卫生村」称号[1]
  • 2019年9月，名列「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」[1]
